Environmental Education

Cocoons is located on 4 ½ acres of pristine farm land that includes a meadow where blueberries, cranberries, and blackberries flourish. We explore, and forage from the land. The meadow also provides a home for plants, butterflies, birds, bugs, reptiles and woodland creatures that we observe, catch, release, and marvel at.

The headwaters of Lake Brook that run through the back of the property provide an ideal environment for froggin’ and lizardin’ in the spring as well as tracking woodland creatures in the winter.

We garden! We grow cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, beans, pumpkins, and herbs. We cook and eat healthy food!

The 40 acres of protected Kennebunk Land Trust that border Cocoons’ property provide an endless opportunity for hiking and exploring. We spend lots of time outdoors; we believe that young environmentalists are the future stewards of our priceless world.
